Soon, we will be launching exciting new updates to our metadata coding, spreadsheet viewing capabilities, and more. See below for a preview of what’s included.
Today, we launched an update to our coding panel to allow users to lock certain fields so that the information cannot be changed. This will ensure that fields containing fixed metadata, such as email subject and author, are not modified or deleted when coding documents or performing bulk actions.
Locked fields will have a gray background in the document viewer so that users can view the information without making any changes. Users can also view the Field Modification History, which tracks when fields are created, locked or unlocked, as well as who made the changes.
Coming Soon: Servers in Canada and California
Nextpoint’s cloud-based data hosting is facilitated through Amazon Web Services. We currently host data in a secure server environment in the East Coast; soon, we will add additional environments in California and Canada. We expect to see an increase in speeds and stability across the Nextpoint platform, and it will help us address the needs of our ever-growing client base more effectively.
Canadian firms often must follow specific parameters that dictate where their data can be hosted. The Canadian servers will allow local firms to adhere to these requirements while using Nextpoint.
Coming Soon: Native Spreadsheet Viewer
In general, spreadsheets can be difficult to view outside their native application (such as Excel or Google Sheets). And unlike most ESI, they don’t image well when imported into ediscovery databases. Currently, our users often have to download spreadsheets, view them in their native platform, then return to Nextpoint to make coding decisions.
Not anymore! We’re creating a native spreadsheet viewer that allows all spreadsheet analysis to stay in the Nextpoint platform. Right now, we’re working hard to make sure this tool has all the features you need to examine spreadsheets easily and efficiently. We can’t wait to share this exciting new release with you very soon.
