Nextpoint on the Legal Geeks Podcast: Geeky Talk About Cloud Computing in Discovery 150 150 Jason Krause

This week, Josh Gilliland from the Legal Geeks podcast and I discussed why cloud computing is vital to the future of litigation. I know, it’s not a big surprise that Nextpoint is in favor of cloud computing. Our products are Discovery Cloud, Trial Cloud, and Cloud Preservation. But the fact is, eDiscovery is ideally suited to maximize the benefits of cloud computing. Josh and I talk about the practical, financial, and ethical implications of using cloud services in eDiscovery. This is also our first video podcast, which made me self-conscious, but I think we’ll try this format again in the near future.

There’s a lot of good information in this episode, including some shocking case law. But the short version is that the exploding volume of electronic data is killing litigation. Josh found some scary reported cases where the costs spiraled out of control. If you follow some simple steps outlined in the podcast, cloud computing is a perfect solution for making eDiscovery more afordable. That’s why the eDiscovery Journal found that roughly 75% of law firm respondents are leaning toward SaaS or hybrid on-premise/SaaS solutions for eDiscovery. Enjoy!
